Whatever Happened to the National Project in Africa?
– A Retrospective and Prospective View
The ‘national project’ was essentially a strategy for more equitable appropriation of productive forces at the local, continental and global levels. The purpose of this seminar is to interrogate the internal and external factors that contributed to the demise of the basic tenets of the ‘national project’—i.e. genuine independence, national integration, economic development and social justice; and to explore the prospects for re-launching a renewed ‘national project’ in Africa. Co-hosted with Nordic Africa Institute.
