Albert Camus and the Origin of Revolt

Albert Camus and the Origin of Revolt
Lecture by Lou Marin & discussion
The lecture will focus on three major issues on the position of Camus vis-a-vis the United Nations:
- The immediate post-war article series, “Neither Victims nor Executioners“ and Camus’ support for Gary Davis’ world citizens movement;
- Camus’ concept of revolt, his federalist view on Mediterranean culture and his resignation from UNESCO because of the acceptance of Franco-Spain; and
- His qualified critique of the United Nations’ recognition of the FLN as the sole body of a self-determined Algeria.
