19-21 sept 2006, Uppsala, Sweden

An Invitation to an alarming and inspiring, disturbing and encouraging dialogue on global changes

What new thrills and threats may await us in the coming decades, given the current political, environmental and technological trends?

What alternatives to mainstream development would bring equity and ecological sustainability to the fore? Does the world have the insight, foresight and courage to imagine new solutions and work in new directions?

At the culmination of the What Next project, some of the most burning questions of our time – and the coming decades – will be explored and debated in a stimulating and thought-provoking What Next Forum. Activists, scholars, students, international and national civil servants, media people and other concerned individuals will meet over two and a half days for exciting debates and discussions.

We invite you to this open forum to:
› listen, learn and debate our common challenges around
    - new, powerful technologies
    - growing threats to environment, health and human security
    - economics and corporate power
    - politics and participatory democracy
    - empires and militarism of today and tomorrow
› explore alternatives and strategies for social change
› review and discuss What Next publications launched at the Forum
› meet people with diverse backgrounds from all regions of the world

Mark these dates in your diary today!
Please register. This will enable us to send you updated information and forthcoming What Next publications.
